For 39 years I have been a music teacher
with a strong passion for all
animals. The money I earned from my music profession has allowed
me to
pursue my childhood dream of working with animals. I began by working
with dogs in basic obedience training. This was so much fun for
me that I
wanted to find more ways to work with animals.
In 2001 I became a Certified
Veterinary Assistant and became involved in companion animal rescue.
I welcomed a wide variety of animals into my home including,
rats, hamsters, a ferret, and many birds.
Animal rescue was a very
rewarding experience, but brought to light a lot of new challenges.
I
wanted to find better ways to work with the dogs and cats that were
coming to me with a variety of issues that obedience training alone
wasn't
able to help. This is when I looked into the Tellington TTouch Method.
A
friend of mine had told me about this method in l996. Two new rescued
dogs
presented me with some new challenges and I asked a TTouch Practitioner
for help. The work was so impressive that I decided to get the training
myself. In June 2003, I became a Tellington TTouch Practitioner I.
In October 2009, I was honored with the Outstanding Local Trainer Award from the
Butte Humane Society at their Heroes for Animals Recognition Dinner.
I also have acquired training
in Bach Flower Essences from the Bach
Flower Essence Training Center. This is also very useful in conjunction
with
basic training and TTouch. Currently I am pursuing certification
in animal nutrition.
